Cigarettes & Carbon Monoxide

Whenever a car passes by and its emitting alot of smoke, we always cover our mouth and nose hoping not inhale any of those poisonous smoke. We always tell our kids to stay clear from car exhaust pipes because they emit dangerous smoke.

That dangerous smoke being emitted by running engines is called Carbon Monoxide. And that same kind of smoke is being produced everytime you light your cigarettes. If you are smoking, then I suggest that you don’t bother covering your mouth and nose whenever a car revs up beside because you’re inhaling carbon monoxide anyway everytime you smoke cigarettes. And tell your kids to stay away from you because you are a walking poison.

Carbon Monoxide is an odorless, colorless, and tasteless substance but is highly toxic. It is produced by burning carbon containing substances - most common in a vehicles internal combustion system. Carbon Monoxide poisoning is the most common type of poisoning in many countries.

Dangers of Carbon Monoxide

Since Carbon Monoxide is odorless, colorless and tasteless it can kill you even before you know its around you. That’s how lethal this compound is.

Carbon Monoxide causes:

• Impaired Vision
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Nausea
• Confusion
• Reduced Brain Functions
• Death

Carbon Monoxide aids the formation of Carboxyhemoglobin in the blood, which inhibits oxygen intake.

If you are a smoker, you are subjecting your family everyday to these risks. The amount of carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke may not be lethal, but remember that exposure to small amounts of carbon monoxide also has health effects and it can accumulate over time.
